Trail Advocacy

The CAP Corridor (Colfax-Albion-Pullman):

The rail corridor connecting Pullman to Colfax WA is currently unused, creating the opportunity to preserve it as a rail-trail. Because it is owned by the State of Washington, our District 9 legislators have the power to initiate the process but are reluctant to do so. PCT has worked with them and the state legislature trying to get a study of the E. Washington short-line system to help answer questions and concerns. If you live in Eastern Washington, let Senator Mark Schoesler and Representatives Joe Schmick and Mary Dye know there is a LOT of excitement and support for this project.

Railbanking the rails inside the Pullman City Limits.

We are working with the City of Pullman to support their efforts to railbank the in-town rail lines. The rails are idle and becoming an eyesore but have so much potential to activate the city. Adding more trails, fixing gaps in the existing trails, providing opportunities for creating a trail-adjacent playground at the Pullman Heritage Depot, spearheading a BMX bike park … the opportunities are exciting. Because these rail lines are owned by the State of Washington, we need our District 9 legislators on board in order to make it happen. If you live in Pullman, you can help by letting them know you support this effort.
