May Day Riverwalk Celebration
On May 1, 2006 at 5:30 p.m., the celebration of 5-years collaborative
work will take place on Pullman’s new Riverwalk and Pine Street
Square. The May Day Celebration will begin with a 5:30 p.m. ribbon
cutting and speeches in Pine Street Square, followed by a serpentine
walk along the river and over the bridges, lead by our garlanded
pied pipers: PHS’s Greyhound, Mr. Tase T. Lentil, and WSU’s Butch.
There will be live music in the Square and we hope everyone will
take the opportunity to stay and socialize downtown, find a pleasant
place to eat or have ice cream....

Riverwalk to be Built
This fall newsletter is a harbinger of spring, when the long
anticipated Downtown Riverwalk will at last become a reality.
Word from the City is that construction on the bridges will
begin in the early months of 2005.  Mark Workman, Director
of Public Works is hoping to complete the Riverwalk by the end
of the year.  Pine Street Square, paved in a cobblestone
pattern, lighted and furnished, will welcome Riverwalk users
into the central downtown....

City to Request Bids on June 1st
We are all eager to see the Downtown Pullman Riverwalk built and
ready to use. The City of Pullman has been working on bridge designs
and structural engineering since funding was completed last fall.
Mark Workman, Director of Public Works, tells us, "We are finalizing
the bridge designs and details for raising the bridges (during
flooding). We will target going out to bid for one contractor
for the bridges, the path and the Pine Street Plaza on June 1st.
This translates to a mid-July notice to proceed," said Mr. Workman.
A conservative timeline for completion of the basic trail will
be spring 2005....
